Bits and pieces ...

Well it is obvious that I have become totally acopic (Don't look now definition - total inability to cope with every day life!) since our return from our holiday so forgive me for my late posting, my erratic comments and general slackness ...

I haven't actually just been sitting on my butt and staring into space the whole time ... I have managed to get a few things done around here ...

I finally finished this quilt ...

It's called Jessica's Garden. I started this quilt a bit over a year ago and I'm so very pleased that it is finally finished. It's colours make me smile :)

I made a start on some gifts for the kids teachers ...

These bags are a pattern called Not Another Green Bag from Amitie. I really love these.

I received a fantastic parcel from Jo at French Knots as a part of Lisa's magazine swap ...

And what should I find inside one of the magazines but a spectacular creation by my very cool friend Cathy!!!!

Thank you so much Jo! I have enjoyed them immensely this weekend!

I also found this little treasure in amongst our wheelbarrow load of mail that we received once we returned fro the US ...

Nothing quite like a little bit of Ric Rac love! Thanks Jodie ... this is Megan's first activity on her Holiday To Do List.

My little pink heart made it's way over the sea and is now living with Erin of ErinKCreations.

My littlest man finished 3 year old kinder for the year ... so we will be spending even more time together ...

I have just been trying for way too long to link to a video that goes with this photo ... alas I am also acopic when it comes to blogging ... so if you would like to see Joshua's little song go to my Flickr page and take a look.

We put up the Christmas tree ... although I am a little scared that if Tiger keeps scaling it now it is dressed it wont stay up for long!!!!!

 

On Saturday I started and finished the Christmas shopping ... completed in one fowl swoop! Just the way I like it!

Finally, I made a start on this ...

Three little quilts & a magazine ...

This has been a week for little quilts here in the home of Don't Look Now. First up is my Doll Quilt which is all but finished and will begin it's journey around the world tomorrow once the binding is sewn down and a label is attached. I have called it I (heart) pink!

 

I used Lite Steam-A-Seam2 for the first time with this project, and I must say it is very nice to work with. It is not quite as tacky once it is attached to the applique shape as the Floraini product that I have been using lately but produces cleaner edges which is very nice. The applique was then secured with free motion stitching. The stitching detail is also free motion.

   

As always I quilted it to within an inch of it's life :). I hope that my swap partner likes it.

I received my little DQS5 quilt earlier in the week. It is a very cool creation from Helen of Patchwork of Mini Grey. Thank you so much Helen, it's really nice.

On Wednesday my new edition of Homespun arrived in the mail ... look what I found on page 18 ....

 

How cool is that little girl of mine??? I made her you know!!! We will all have to wait until next month now to discover what happens next!!!

There is also a very fabulous quilt by Claire from Matching Pegs in this edition together with several other excellent projects.

I also love the quilt on the front cover by Sandy Klop!

The magazine is really looking great and going from strength to strength ... well done Catherine!

Resuming normal programming ...

It has taken longer than I expected to try and slot back into everyday life and I still feel a little like a fish out of water. The flight home was long and arduous and even before the midway point I was promising myself that I would never leave Australia again ... although I am sure that these emotions will pass with time! Besides ... once we win the lottery we will be able to fly first class ... and it will be me that the flight attendant is talking to when they announce that "those in Premiere Class may choose their own seat back position, however, they will need to store their ottoman for decent" (what an inconvenience!!!!)

It has also taken me longer to post as I have not had anything show until now. I have been flat out working on a project that I insanely agreed to while we were away which needs to be finished by the end of the month ...

How many days are there again until December?

This is my little quilt for the DQS. This also needs to be finished by the end of the month ... as you can see it will be a little late I hope that the recipient will forgive me.

 

My swap partner noted a dislike of a specific colour in her profile. I never realised how much I use this colour ... it has been difficult.

I never got to do very much sewing on our trip. I had imagined that I would have gotten a lot of hand piecing done while we were driving ... however, I never realised that my role during the driving phases would involve quite so many panic attacks! It is quite hard to hold a needle and sew a straight line when you are breathing into a paper bag ;).

I did however manage to draw up plans for 6 new quilts and many more ideas for others ... so it would seem that 2009 is going to be a busy year!!!
