It's all about the food & the kids ...

Last night we celebrated the 'other' festival that we celebrate in our home at this time of year! I enjoy the Seder and the kids get so very excited about all of the yummy food & the family gathering together ... plus they get to stay up late!

Megan has read the Haggadah along with the adults for the last two years. It never ceases to amaze me what a proficient little lady she is becoming ... I think it is that first child syndrome. Either way she makes me so very proud.

The kids spent the afternoon making portraits of our guests to act as place cards. This is a great distraction on days when I am flat out cooking and have no time for them. It is also a great source of entertainment for the subject! Ben's were great this year ...

On the front of my outfit he wanted to write the number of people that I look after but he couldn't settle on one so he gave me three. First he wrote 5 - because I look after 4 kids & Daddy. Then he wrote 8 - to include me & my husbands two kids as well. Then he wrote 3 - this version included only the 3 littlest kids and not Megan, Mike or Lisa because "they are all too big now"!

Josh ended up with two Ben's version and his own 'Jackson Pollock' styled self portrait!

I got some beautiful flowers for the table from Camberwell Market and I could resist taking some photos...

those place cards are adorable, and I love the hint of something next to those gorgeous flowers.

your kids are so cute, as are the placemats too - bless him. I'm liking the choice of colours for your "secret" you always get them right. Where are you in the pics? Thank you for the lovely description on your links.

You are an absolute powerhouse! I can't wait for the full view of the secret project.

Your kids look so very happy.

looks like you had a wonderful celebration - it all looks beautiful. Hope the kids aren't too crabby this morning after the late night. Your secret project is looking just beautiful - I might just have to have some lessons from you on 'perfect' applique. You are a wonder. Love the kids place cards - what a great idea to get them out of your hair.

What did you have for dinner? And can I ask - what is the plate with the bone on it for?

Looks like your family celebration was a great success - brilliant place cards, lovely table setting, gorgeouse flowers, and no doubt the food was also amazing! Your secret project has aroused my curiousity - the sneak peaks look fabulous - can't wait to see the finished project.

Also just wanted to let you know taht you won Sarah's giveaway - please email us your address and Sarah will mail off your prize this week :)
