A day for new beginings...

One day you have this ...

A016_9_2

and you turn around and you have this ...

Holiday_first_day_at_school_076

My sweet little babies had their first day at school today! Look at them aren't they sooooo sweet! All grown up. Jessica busy playing mother looking after her brother!

Imagine my delight when Jessie proudly told me about the most important thing they learnt today ... "how to line up to go to the toilet!".

How exciting for you both my babies. I love you both so very much!

We only returned from our holiday yesterday so once I finally finish unpacking (why is it that it always takes so much longer to unpack than to pack?) I will post with our adventure in Warrnambool.

A week from hell ...

This past week I have spent my time bouncing between sitting with my husband in hospital, swimming lessons with the kids, normal life 'stuff' and just trying to hold everything together ... while whoever it is up 'there' punches me in the chest time, after time, after time ... or so it seems.

To spite all of this there are always lovely things that happen ... if you look hard enough ...

1. Swimming Lessons - always stacks of fun watching them floundering around in the water

Joshua trying very hard not to get his face wet whilst still trying to impress me!

2. Funny Faces ... I love their sweet faces!

3. Dear friends - Jenny (Amitie Textiles) who opened her store, held my hand, mopped my tears ... and still found it in her heart to let me feel her fabric. Gotta love that!

4. Hand Sewing - I love this for it's portability. I have been seen in many places this week sitting with my sewing kit & Jessie's quilt ... so many threads to tie off ....

4. Holidays - tomorrow (oops today! - time flies) we are off to Warrnambool. Car is packed, dress kids in the morning, toss them in the car, collect my better half from hospital and 'anywhere is better than home' here we come ... especially when it looks like this ...

5. My husband and our combined people ...

See so many things to make me smile to spite the punches in the chest!

Yesterday my darling little people let me sleep until 9am! Which was good considering I never went to bed until 3am - my husband is away - hence no restrictions on the time I spend in my sewing room at night.

So when I finally dragged myself out of bed I found the kids sitting huddled together playing their Nintendo's.

This isn't so unusual as these toys are still very much a novelty - Santa was very generous this year. However, what made me feel all warm and fuzzy was ... on closer inspection I found that were posting to each other using the game's internal wireless 'chatroom' - check out their messages I hope you can see... how could I not be delighted with this?

Even Josh got in on the act ... I am sure that somewhere in that scribble he is pledging his undying love to his siblings!

Other than usual life stuff for the most part of this last week I have been machine quilting Jessica's Christmas quilt and yesterday should have been no different but a girl can only take so much of the same thing!

So I pulled out a pattern I bought sometime ago from Patchwork House in Hawthorn and threw together some sugarie sweet' scraps and stirred it all up and just look what we ended up with ...

After ... YUM!

I even had time to start a little something else ...

I plan to make a series of these pictures to decorate the walls of Jessica's bedroom.

But today I need to get back to the quilt ...

PS. I am having some trouble with the word processing ... I am sure I will get the hang of it ... surely it can't be this hard ... so sorry for the jumbled apperiance.

First steps...

Well here I am ... my first post. I never really saw myself as doing this but here goes ...

This blog is mainly for myself - a somewhat public journal of my life & love of creating & my family. It is not my natural way to exhibit myself in such a public manner so it will be interesting to see how this all pans out.

I have a large problem with managing to finish tasks. So my motive for placing myself in such a public domain is to hopefully shame myself into completing something :).

So what will you find here? At this stage mostly my quilting adventures with a little of my family thrown in for good measure.

Please don't expect the perfection that you see elsewhere or the amazingly prolific & super Mum women out there that both inspire and shame me. What you will find is a real mother of 4 just trying to hold it together long enough to create something that impresses my 3 year old!

So thats it my first post ... not so hard

See ya

Kellie
